Deluxshan Pathmanathan, the lead assistant coach with Ontario Tech since it launched basketball three years ago, has been named the interim head coach of the men’s basketball program.

He is filling the role for Greg Francis, who is taking a personal leave from the program.

Prior to Pathmanathan taking over assistant duties in 2019 he filled the same role with the Durham College men’s basketball team from 2016-19.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to build a high-performance environment here at Ontario Tech,” said Pathmanathan. “Our goal for the off-season is to recruit top talent to come to our school and then my job would be to provide them with the necessary tools to be successful both on and off the court.”

Pathmanathan has also been a head coach with Team Ontario since 2018 and coached the Sri Lankan U-18 national team, taking them to the country’s first ever international win in the Youth Olympics.
