A man from Ottawa faces charges after a carjacking in Ajax today.
Police got a 911 call about a car theft in progress near Harwood Ave and Lake Drwy, just north of Ajax Waterfront Park on September 15. Officers arrived on scene shortly afterwards and searched the area. However they found nothing at the time.
Later on a different set of officers spotted the stolen car headed east on Hwy 401. The officers caught up to the car and performed a rolling block, when a cruiser gets in front of a target car to control its speed.
Due to the block the driver in the stolen car was brought to a safe stop.
The driver, a 32-year-old man from Ottawa, was charged with car theft, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and breach of probation. He remains in custody until a bail hearing.
