There are ongoing lane restrictions on Park Road in Oshawa after watermain breaks this week that left hundreds in the area without water.

The first break was at dinner time and Region of Durham staff were on the scene to fix the issue, with water service restored Wednesday morning. But a second break happened that morning, with the repair work lasting into Thursday.

The watermain breaks occurred on a stretch of Park south of John Street.

A statement from the Region said businesses and residents in the area may be experiencing a temporary water service interruption or decrease in water pressure for the duration of the repair. “When the water service returns to normal, it is important for customers to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes to clean out any sediment that may have accumulated in your water service. This will avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.”

Drivers are asked to exercise caution during the repairs “for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and the work crews.”
