Parts of Durham Region could see wind gusts up to 80 km/h today

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Pickering, Oshawa and southern Durham on Wednesday (Jan. 5) as strong winds are expected throughout the afternoon and evening.

According to the weather agency, strong winds gusting between 70 and 80 km/h will accompany a cold front moving through southern Ontario.

During the weather event, power outages are possible and residents are warned that winds this strong are capable of tossing loose objects and breaking tree branches.
