A 40 year-old man was struck by a delivery van in Courtice last night while crossing the street. He remains in critical condition.

The pedestrian was crossing to the north side of the Trulls Road and Nash Road intersection. Police say a parcel delivery van was turning left when it hit the pedestrian around 5 p.m on December 15.

Police arrived minutes later and provided medical assistance to the pedestrian, who was taken to a trauma center in Toronto with a head injury. He remains there in critical condition. The van driver suffered no injuries.

Durham Police Collision Unit closed the intersection for several hours to investigate, but it has since reopened. Anyone with information can call D/Cst. Scott at 905-579-1520 ext. 5217.
