Pedestrian killed in Whitby car crash

A pedestrian is dead after a car crash in Whitby.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on April 2 a pedestrian was struck on Highway 412 near the intersection with Taunton Road, the OPP confirmed. They added the crash involved the pedestrian and at least one vehicle.

Police confirmed the pedestrian was a 50-year-old from Deep River, a small community in Renfrew County by the Quebec border. However, they did not publically reveal the pedestrian’s identity or gender.

The driver did not stop and, according to police, may not be aware they struck someone. The OPP Traffic Support Unit has taken over the investigation but the do not suspect foul play.
