Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by a pickup truck in Oshawa

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Oshawa.
Emergency crews responded to the collision at the Rossland Road West and Simcoe Street North area of Oshawa around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Durham Regional Police said in a press release.
A 20-year-old woman was driving southbound on Simcoe Street North in a pickup truck, police said.
The driver attempted to turn right at Rossland Road West when the truck struck a 21-year-old woman who was crossing the street, police said.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck stopped and assisted the pedestrian while waiting for police.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition, police said.
The roads were closed for several hours for the investigation, police said.
