Pedestrian struck by a truck in Oshawa air-lifted to hospital with critical injuries

Durham police have confirmed that a man has been air-lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre after being struck by a vehicle in north Oshawa early this morning.
On Saturday (July. 22) shortly after 1:30 a.m., police responded to Simcoe St. N., north of Howden Rd., where a pedestrian was reported to have been hit by a vehicle.
Police say a 27-year-old man was walking southbound on the east side of the roadway when he was struck by a northbound travelling Dodge Ram pick-up truck.
The man was transported by ORNGE to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, where he currently remains in critical condition.
According to officers, following the accident, the driver of the Dodge Ram pick-up remained on scene and continues to cooperate fully with the investigation.
The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected by investigators.
The investigations are ongoing.
