This year’s annual Petapalooza outdoor pet festival in Pickering was the most successful event on record, with more than 3,750 attendees. The May 13 event also raised more than $33,000 through donations, vendor fees, and sponsorships.
Petapalooza, held this year at Esplanade Park in downtown Pickering, has grown in the last few years to be one of the city’s largest outdoor events and attendance has more than doubled in the last three years. The 2019 festival raised more than $20,000.
Petapolooza brings together pet owners and enthusiasts and gives them the opportunity to meet industry professionals, rescue groups, and others in the pet business.
All proceeds from Petapolooza go towards building a permanent animal shelter in Pickering and for the purchase of unique supplies and accessories to support the care and comfort of animals in need. The funds will also go towards enrichment activities for animals to enjoy, both inside and outside of the facility.
“Thank you to those who attended the event, participated as a vendor, or supported us through sponsorship opportunities,” said Lindsey Narraway, Supervisor, Animal Services. “It is because of you that we were able to make this year’s Petapolooza event a major success. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of animals within our care.”
