The Peterborough Petes got their revenge from Sunday night’s loss to the Generals by beating them 5-2 on Thursday night at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

The Petes’ Tucker Robertson and Joe Carroll led the way for Peterborough, who move to 2-4-0-0 on the young season. Robertson had a goal and three assists for four points, while Carroll added two goals and an assist.

Edmonton Oilers prospect and captain Ty Tullio scored his second of the season for the Gens, who see their two-game winning streak snapped, moving their overall record to 2-3-0-1. Ryan Gagnier had the other Oshawa goal.

Rookie Calum Ritchie saw his five-game goal scoring streak end, though not for lack of trying as the reigning OHL Player of the Week had four shots on Peterborough goaltender Michael Simpson.

Peterborough was clearly ready to go off the opening face-off, as it only took them 1:32 to get the game’s first goal, with Carroll beat Patrick Leaver five-hole for his first of the season. Tullio, with his second of the campaign, scored later in the period to even the game at ones heading into intermission.

The Petes outscored the Generals 2-1 in the second frame to take a 3-2 into the 2nd intermission. The period saw its fair share of chances for the Generals, including a brief five on three that didn’t result in a goal. The Generals finished the night 0/2 on the powerplay.

Peterborough added to their lead in the final stanza, thanks to goals by Justin DeZoete and an empty-net goal by Robertson. Simpson made 26 saves in the win, while Patrick Leaver made 24 saves in the loss.

The Generals and Petes play a total of 10 more times this season, with their next matchup coming on December 12 in Oshawa.

Oshawa is right back in action tomorrow night at the Tribute Communities Centre to play the Niagara IceDogs at 7:35 pm.
