If you know a senior who has made a positive impact on the community the City of Pickering wants to hear from you.

Pickering has launched its Senior of the Year Award, a special initiative that honours outstanding contributions of senior residents.

The award will recognize one individual aged 65-plus each year who has contributed to and enriched the social, cultural or environmental fabric of the community.

Per a release from the City, residents are invited to nominate a deserving senior resident that has “dedicated their efforts to making Pickering a better place to live” and have demonstrated a commitment to improving the social, cultural or environmental aspects of Pickering.

Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 1. To nominate a deserving senior, fill out the nomination form available on the City of Pickering’s website at https://www.pickering.ca/en/adults-55-plus.aspx with detailed information about the nominee’s contributions.

The Senior of the Year Award will be presented as part of the Senior Month Big Band event in June.

For more information and to submit nominations, please visit pickering.ca or contact Suzie Inthavivanh by phone at (905) 420.4660 ext. 1117, or by email at [email protected]
