Pickering man arrested on human trafficking charges

A Pickering man is in police custody after a human trafficking investigation.

According to Durham Regional Police, their Human Trafficking Unit wrapped an investigation on July 12 with the arrest of Deiondre Reid, 24 of Pickering. Reid has been charged with 10 offences including human trafficking and benefiting from human trafficking.

Police did not specify what led them to suspect Reid or the circumstances of his arrest. Reid remains in custody until a bail hearing.

While investigators did not specify how many victims they had identified, they believe there may be even more. They encourage anyone with information to come forward. They can call the Human Trafficking Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5230 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
