The new and improved Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex in Pickering has undergone extensive changes and improvements in the last year and is ready for its moment in the sun.
Tonight, hockey takes centre stage when the Pickering Panthers Junior ‘A’ club try to close out their Buckland Cup Final series with the Toronto Jr. Canadians.
Pickering leads the series 3-2 and a win tonight will send the club to the Centennial Cup national championships May 19-29 in Estevan, Saskatchewan. A win will also give the Panthers their first league championship since 1986.
Tomorrow the rest of the complex takes its turn and City recreation staff are inviting residents to “re-discover the Rec,” with entertainment, a ribbon-cutting and free fitness, yoga and Zumba classes, as well as spin demos, cycle fit and circuit training demonstrations and facility tours.
Join us for the Grand Reopening of the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex tomorrow from 10 am – 4 pm!

There will be free squash and racquetball (10-4, with equipment available to borrow) and free swimming (1-4) as well.
The hockey club is hoping some of those headed to the facility Saturday will give the team a much-needed boost of fan support for the game tonight. The Panthers dropped the first two games of the series but have roared back to put the Jr. Canadians on the brink.
Puck drop is 7 p.m.
