There were 14 new cases of COVID-19 in Durham yesterday as the case totals remained under 15 for the fourth day in a row and the fifth day in six.
Active case totals are dropping as well, with just 88 remaining in the region.
Pickering reported five new cases Wednesday while the three northern, mostly rural communities of Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock reported zero new cases. Oshawa reported just one.
There are still two institutional outbreaks, with four residents at White Cliff Terrace retirement home in Courtice isolating and one in hospital. In all but two schools – including Monseigneur Leo Cleary Catholic School in Courtice – the COVID-19 cases have been resolved – and there only two students who are still isolating at Durham schools and day care centres.
Vaccinations are still on the rise, albeit slowly, as 81.1 per cent of all Durham residents 12 and over are now fully vaccinated. The 12-17 age group and all the age groups 40 and older are all at 83.2 per cent fully vaccinated or higher, leaving only the 18-29 and 30-39 age groups with vaccination rates under 80 per cent.
