Pickering woman turns birthday present into $100,000 lottery win

Hailey Charlebois of Pickering is celebrating after winning a $100,000 top prize with INSTANT CROSSWORD TRIPLER.
Charlebois, 23, said she’s been playing the lottery since she turned 18. She occasionally purchases LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 tickets when the jackpots are high, but especially likes INSTANT games. “This ticket was a 23rd birthday gift from my dad,” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her windfall.
She was at the dinner table with her family when she played her ticket and uncovered her big win. “I kept saying, ‘No way!’ I was speechless and had to check it about 10 times!”
With her winnings, Charlebois plans to find a new place of her own, travel to Paris, and is considering purchasing a car. “I’m going to celebrate with my family and go see Post Malone!” she said. “I always believed I’d win someday, and I feel so blessed. This has been such a surreal experience.”
INSTANT CROSSWORD TRIPLER is available for $5 a play and the top prize is $100,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.81.
The winning ticket was purchased at Bay Ridges Market on Krosno Boulevard in Pickering.
