Oshawa BMX Bike Park

Pickleball courts and the installation of two playground areas are complete as Rose Valley Community Park in northwest Oshawa takes shape.

The new park, which will also include an expanded BMX bike park, has met its preliminary construction targets with the park opening scheduled for the summer of 2025.

Construction of the bike tracks, shade structures and formal garden are ongoing, with the majority of the hard surfaces finished. The installation of the park washroom building, operations storage building, a new pedestrian crosswalk on Thornton Road, and landscape planting will follow in early 2025.

  • multiple children’s playground structures designed for variety of age groups and activity levels
  • benches, shaded rest areas and accessible washrooms
  • pickleball courts
  • accessible enhancements, including pathways, play structures and a fully accessible strider bike path
  • formal garden area
  • walking trails and pathways
  • a new parking lot with eight accessible spaces
  • pedestrian crossing at Deer Valley Drive
  • an expanded BMX bike park

The existing BMX bike park is a dirt jump track that is approximately 5,000 square metres and incorporates numerous features including bermed corners, rolling step ups/downs, rollers, double rollers and tilted rollers. The park is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced tracks with corresponding features for each level.

The first phase of the new bike park, created after the unsanctioned, user-built ‘Greenland’ park was destroyed by the city for insurance reasons, was developed in consultation with active BMX enthusiasts from the local BMX community. A team of volunteer stewards have donated their time to help in the maintenance of the track.

“BMX biking is a passion for many members of our community,” said Mayor Dan Carter at the opening in 2022.  “This is a place where enthusiasts of the sport will come together for fun and recreation.”
