Police asking for help in finding man wanted for Christmas Day stabbing in Whitby

Officers are appealing to the public to help identify a suspect in a stabbing that occurred at lunch hour in Whitby on Sunday.

Central West Division officers responded to a stabbing incident near Gilbert Street East and Brock Street South around noon Sunday, where they found a 52-year-old man with serious injuries.  The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma center where he remains in stable condition. Currently the motive for the stabbing is unclear.    The suspect fled southbound on Brock Street prior to police arrival.

The suspect is described as male, brown skin, 25-30 years old, black pants, black jacket, dark grey boots, and a striped toque.

Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect and are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying him.
