Police bust Ajax chop shop – eight vehicles recovered

A 60 year-old Stouffville man has been hit with 14 charges after police recovered stolen vehicles from an auto shop in Ajax.
West Division officers responded to Fairall Street and Westney Rd. S. in Ajax Thursday regarding a stolen vehicle that had been tracked to an auto shop. Further investigation revealed the shop was being run as a ‘Chop Shop’ with multiple stolen vehicles associated to the property.
A Criminal Code search warrant was executed and a total of eight vehicles were recovered. Four of the vehicles had been disassembled into parts. The estimated value of the recovered property is $400,000-$500,000.
Rafiollah Mahdavi is charged with nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000), four counts of mischief/damage to property (over $5,000) and unlawfully possessing an Automobile Master Key.
He was released on an Undertaking.
