Police nab third suspect wanted for Whitby pharmacy robbery

Investigators have charged a third suspect in connection to a robbery at a pharmacy in Whitby on June 2.

The suspect – a 16 year old boy – was arrested in Toronto with the assistance of York Regional Police. Members of the Durham Police Robbery Unit executed a search warrant and seized evidence and an imitation firearm.

The teen has been charged with 14 criminal offenses including robbery; disguise with intent; possession of property obtained by crime; flight from police; dangerous operation of a vehicle and numerous firearms-related charges.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Two other teens were arrested on the day of the robbery after fleeing from police.

The suspects, who were all masked inside the pharmacy at the Pringle Creek Plaza, fled police at “at a high rate of speed, mounting the curb before it struck a hydro pole, sheering it off onto a vehicle and a bus shelter.” Police discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons.

Two of the three suspects were arrested by York Regional Police in Markham. Police seized a loaded firearm.
