Durham Police investigators are still trying to figure out what happened to a woman suffering “severe head trauma” found on the side of the road in Ajax early Wednesday morning.
Police don’t know if the 57 year-old woman, who is now in a Toronto hospital in “life-threatening” condition, was the victim of an assault or was in a car accident and are asking witnesses to come forward.
Police said officers responded to reports of a person lying on the side of the road near Kingston Road and Harwood Avenue about 5 a.m. Wednesday, which is where they found the woman and subsequently rushed her to hospital.
DRPS had both the Collision Investigation and Criminal Investigation units on the scene looking for answers and are appealing for anyone who has any information, including dash-cam video to contact police.
Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact D/Cst Dalgetty of the Collision Investigations Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5217.
Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
