Police release name of teen killed in Pickering shooting

Police have released the name of the 17-year-old boy killed in a Pickering shooting.

The shooting happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. on June 18 at a housing complex at 1580 Kingston Rd. in Pickering.

First responders arrived soon after and found a 17-year-old boy had been shot. Paramedics tried to save the boy’s life, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Anthony Dixon, Durham Regional Police Service said today (June 21).

This is Durham Region’s seventh homicide of 2023, police said.

There is no suspect information currently available; however, at this time this appears to be an isolated incident and police believe there to be no threat to public safety.

Police are encouraging anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to contact police.
