Theatre on the Ridge kicks off its 2023 and 10th Anniversary summer season with one of Norm Foster’s best two-hander comedies, with a preview Tuesday and opening night on Wednesday, June 14.

Mixing moments of humour and humanity in equal parts, ‘On A First Name Basis’ is the story of a novelist and his housekeeper who, after 28 years, spend an evening in each other’s company. Lives are shared, milestones acknowledged, secrets revealed, and discoveries are made as David Kilbride and Lucy Hopperstaad get to know each other and find it’s not the evening either of them anticipated.

On stage for the first time in a Theatre on the Ridge summer production, but well known by Durham area theatre audiences, are Barb Clifford and Geoffrey Coulter as Lucy and David respectively, with Theatre on the Ridge artistic director, Carey Nicholson directing.

On A First Name Basis is being performed outdoors at the Scugog Shores Museum on Island Road in Port Perry under the Theatre on the Ridge custom performance tent. Individual tickets are $39, with a $5 discount available for the preview performance on June 13, and pay-what-you-can ($10 suggested) on all Thursday performances. Tickets for Under 25 and Arts Workers are only $10 any show. Group rates available.
