Diversity was on display Saturday for the Scugog North Durham PRIDE parade and celebration in downtown Port Perry

Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock residents got together to celebrate the LGBT community at the second North Durham Pride march June 8, honouring 20 years of Pride in Durham Region.

The celebrations happened at Palmer Park in Port Perry, with a day filled with activities, entertainment and music, all centered around promoting inclusivity and diversity.

The march kicked off in front of Reflection Park at 9 a.m. and wound its way down Queen Street to Palmer Park for the Scugog Pride Celebration, set against the backdrop of Port Perry’s waterfront.

Durham Pride celebrations had humble beginnings at a small picnic in Whitby in 2004. Today there are celebrations honouring the 2SLGBTQI+ community in towns and cities across the region.
