A theft at a Bowmanville used car lot early Tuesday morning has police looking for suspects who fled the scene in a black Chevrolet SUV, with officers forced to give up the chase for “safety reasons.”
Durham Police responded to a break-and-enter at Next Gen Auto on Highway 2, just east of Bowmanville proper, at 2:30 a.m. this morning, arriving just as the getaway car was getting away.
Police say they followed the SUV briefly before “discontinuing” in the interest of public safety.
A check of the business confirmed several items had been stolen.
