GM Canada sales jumped 3.3 per cent in the first quarter this year, led by truck sales of the GMC Sierra and the Oshawa-made Chevrolet Silverado, which made up near half of all vehicle purchases.

Sales of all Chevrolet brands rose nearly five per cent and while Silverado sales in the first three months of 2024 dropped slightly from this time last year, the 13,042 Silverados that changed hands was still the top seller among the Chevy name plates by a wide margin. Sierra sales (also down slightly) were number one at 14,574 as full-size trucks continued to drive the market, though small crossovers (up 65.9 per cent), Chevy Blazers (up 104.1 per cent) and electric vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq (up 519.2 per cent) showed the biggest improvements, year-over-year.

Total GM Canada sales during Q1 2024 increased to 63,103 units and the company leads in total market share, accounting for 15 per cent of all Canadian vehicles sold.
