Overnight work on a portion of Metrolinx’s network of rail lines in Pickering will take place next week, but no traffic, transit or pedestrian impacts are expected.
The critical rail replacement will take place along the Lakeshore East line from Whites Road to beyond Granite Court, with crews operating on the Metrolinx right-of-way from Monday, May 27 to Saturday, June 1, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
There will be crews on site with heavy machinery to complete the rail replacement work with some vibration expected to occur. Site lighting will be focused on ongoing track works away from nearby residences.
As always with this type of work, the start date is tentative due to weather and other factors.
The project is expected to extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure by reducing the need for frequent maintenance intervention.
