Watching hockey legend Ray Bourque lace ‘em up one more time would be worth the price of admission for any true hockey fan, with Borque, Ken ‘The Rat’ Linesman and other retired greats linked to the Boston Bruins coming to the Tribute Communities Centre for a charity game January 25.

Their opponent? The Toronto Maple Leafs alumni, featuring Rick Vaive (a former captain and the franchise’s first 50-goal scorer), Tomas Kaberle, Gary Leeman (Toronto’s second 50-goal scorer), Al Iafrate and Nik Antropov, who ran shotgun for Mats Sundin with the Leafs from 2003-2009 and whose son Danil spent three-plus seasons with the Oshawa Generals at the end of the last decade.

Bourque, who spent 20 years playing for the Bruins before a late-career trade to the Colorado Avalanche allowed him to taste Stanley Cup success in 2001, will be the star attraction at the event, even for die-hard Leaf fans.

Widely considered one of the greatest defencemen in the game’s history, Bourque leads all player at the position in career goals (410), assists (1,169) and points (1,579).

The game, dubbed The Faceoff, will see a portion of the proceeds benefitting Their Opportunity, which provides underprivileged youth with the opportunity to play sports and engage in community activities.

Tickets for the event, sponsored by Dan Plowman Team Realty, start at $28.25. VIP ticket packages are already sold out.
