With Halloween around the corner, regional representatives are urging Durham residents to be safe with their decoration.
In a post to X (formerly Twitter), officials have urged residents to exercise caution with their decorations by making sure they don’t overstimulate potentially sensitive trick or treaters.
Those embarking on having the most flashy Halloween displays should, according to the Region of Durham:
- Avoid lights that use a persistent strobing effect.
- Ensure any audio effects don’t use high pitched noises.
- Manually activate decorations when guests arrive
Get ready to boo-gie! 👻 When setting up your Halloween decorations, try to avoid strobe lights and sudden, high-pitched noises or consider making your decorations manual so you can activate them when you know guests will enjoy them. #HalloweenSafety #AccessibleDurham pic.twitter.com/QrBtzuUXC8
