Ribfest returns to Whitby this weekend

Rib lovers are being drawn to Whitby this weekend as its annual Rotary Club Ribfest returns.

The Ribfest draws some 50,000 attendees down to Victoria Fields Park. The local Rotary has hosted the event, now the largest outdoor event in town, for the last 14 years.

Numerous renowned robbers come to town from all over North America to sell their food, with many returning year after year. The include;

  • Billy Bones, from Niagara Falls
  • Silver Bullet Bar B Q, based in Guelph.
  • Smokehouse Bandits from New Hamburg
  • Bibbs Texas BBQ
  • Camp 31 from Alabama, and
  • Bone Daddy from Michigan

The event also features numerous vendors and a wide variety of musical acts.

This year the Ribfest got an extra funding top-up of $20,000 from Experience Ontario.

The festival runs all weekend starting Friday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
