Two people were arrested in an OPP RIDE program after drugs were found in the car.
A RIDE stop in Kawartha Lakes pulled the car over near Highway 35 and Tower Road. Officers say the driver, Amber Allen, 27 of Lindsay, exhibited signs of intoxication.
She’s been charged with driving impaired, driving with liquor available and driving with cannabis available. Her license was suspended for 90 days and her car was impounded for two weeks, the automatic result of her charges.
While police searched the car they found a pellet gun and “a large amount of suspected narcotics.” Jonathon Dasilva-Smith, 29 of Ajax, was charged with breaking his probation. He was held in custody.
“Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. Arrive alive, drive sober,” the OPP wrote.
