Road rage assault send Clarington man to hospital, suspect at large

An argument between a pedestrian and a driver turned violent in Clarington when the driver assaulted the man and sent him to hospital.

The victim was standing in his driveway near Courtice Rd. and Bloor St. in Courtice around 3:30 p.m. on June 27, according to Durham Regional Police He got embroiled in an argument with the driver of a white pick-up truck. The truck driver assaulted the man during the argument and fled the scene. The man received serious injuries and remains in hospital two days later. Police did not share the nature of the man’s wounds.

Investigators said the truck was a newer model Dodge Ram with a Canadian flag on the front panel. They describe the suspect as a white man with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a hat, a long-sleeved construction shirt, blue jeans and work boots.

Police have encouraged the man to contact a lawyer and turn himself in. They also asked witnesses to come forward
