Saturday night’s all right for fighting at Pickering Casino

The Arena at Pickering Casino Resort will once again host the sweet science when United Promotions returns to the ring for a big night of boxing, headlined by unbeaten Orangeville welterweight Josh Wagner.

Wagner (16-0) will take on experienced Mexican Luis Gutierrez (29-4), who went the distance in losing a decision to rising star Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti of Ajax his last time out September 9 in Pickering.

Also on the card is Marvelous Mark Smither of Barrie – also unbeaten at 12-0 – with the Barrie super lightweight fighting Paul Salcedo of Mexico (16-5); Shakeel Phinn (25-2-1) of Brossard, Quebec against Uruguay’s Rafael Pintos (63-18) in a super middleweight bout; super flyweight Sara Haghighat Joo (2-0) vs Esmerelda Sagahon (8-4-2) of Mexico; talented Joshua Frazer of Brampton (8-0) against veteran boxer Carlos Rodriguez of Mexico (114-11-1) in a super welterweight bout; and Gisu Lee of South Korea (9-4) in a lightweight bout against Andres Ramirez (6-7-3) of Mexico.

The next card at the Pickering casino is December 2 and will feature Singh Batti and fellow Ajax star Brandon Cook (who fought for a world title in Las Vegas in 2019), as well as Josh O’Reilly, Ricardo Brown, Melinda Watpool and Kemahl Russel.
