The first day back after a long weekend is usually heavy on absentee workers but school bus operators in Durham Region – fighting a driver shortage the entire school year – have cancellations under control today (May 23), with just four cancelled routes.

All four routes, affecting five schools, are in Brock Township. Bus routes in Clarington, which have been taking the brunt of the diver shortage problem this year, are all running today, with just half a dozen delays.

Schools affected by today’s cancellations are Thorah Central, Beaverton and Holy Family elementary schools in the Beaverton area, and Brock High School and McCaskill’s Mills elementary in Cannington.
