Schools in Courtice were put on lockdown as police searched for suspects this morning (Sept. 19)

Police were in the area of Parklawn Drive in Courtice for a stolen vehicle investigation, Durham Regional Police said on X (formerly Twitter).

Area schools were placed into lockdown while police searched for two outstanding suspects.

Police didn’t clarify which schools were on lockdown but they said further information would follow.

Update 10 a.m.: The lockdown has been lifted. However, while police say there is no further threat, both suspects remain at large. Investigators are still on site
