The Township of Scugog Clerk has declared an emergency under the Municipal Election Act and extended voting until 9:30 p.m.

The Township of Scugog relies on contracted services to process online ballots for the 2022 Municipal Election. It has been brought to the attention of the Clerk that the system was experiencing some “issues” casting ballots between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Voters who experienced difficulties were told that their ballot was not cast and were made aware by the system that they had not voted.

To maintain the integrity of the election, the Municipal Clerk has the discretion to declare an emergency and make any arrangements he or she deems necessary for the conduct of the election. Due to the delay in casting ballots, the 2022 Scugog voting period has been extended to 9:30 p.m.

The situation has now been resolved and counting of ballots is now underway.
