Scugog’s Canada Day festivities back with a bang in ’22

Canada Day is back with a bang at Port Perry’s Palmer Park.
Peruse the artisan and food vendors stands, indulge in Old Flame’s award-winning ales, revel in the talent of live entertainment and watch new and old corvettes cruise down Queen Street for the Support Our Troops Parade.
This year’s Canada day celebration features a variety of food and artisan vendors, including:
- Smoke’s Poutinerie
- The Nutty Chocolatier
- Sweet Summer Soft Ice
- Kawigga Pet Products
- Port Perry Smokehouse
- Amber’s Craft and Jewellery
(Not to forget Dominos Pizza Port Perry and Maple Leaf Foods for their donation of pizza and hotdogs for the free pizza and BBQ lunch.)
The Support Our Troops parade featuring ‘Vettes for Vets and other local organizations will begin at 10:30 a.m. and ‘O’Canada’ is set to be performed by Fiona Guindon before opening ceremonies at 11 a.m.
There’s also a Kids Zone where children can enjoy arts and crafts, help colour the unique Scugog-themed mural from JonnyOneThree, meet princess Moana or Ariel from More than a Dream Princesses, show off their colourful face painting by Sandy Dale Face Painting and Glitter, and more.
Dog lovers are welcome with a lure course presented by DogLoversDays open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. ($5 per dog) and there will be dragon boat tours where you can enjoy a 30-minute Dragon boat tour around Lake Scugog courtesy of Scugog Dragon Boat.
The finale of the day is one of Durham Region’s best fireworks show presented by Supernova Fireworks starting at 10 p.m.
