Second-degree murder charges laid in death of an Ajax woman

Second-degree murder charges have been laid in the death of an Ajax woman.

A woman was found suffering from obvious signs of trauma after police responded to a call for “unknown trouble” in the area of Hillman Drive and Shoal Point Road in Ajax just after 11 p.m. on Saturday (March 30), Durham Regional Police said in a press release.

First responders began life-saving efforts, however, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Police have identified the woman as 45-year-old Jennifer Polak.

A man was taken into custody on the scene without incident. Police identified the man as the boyfriend of the victim.

Kyle Severin, 35 of Ajax is charged with second degree murder. He was held for a bail hearing.
