A second person has now been arrested and is facing charges in three jewellery store robberies that happened in Whitby, Oshawa and Pickering last May.

Central West Division officers responded to an attempted robbery at the Graziella Fine Jewellery store in the Whitby Mall on May 12, just after 3 p.m. Fifteen minutes later it was Central East Division’s turn when they responded to a robbery at the Paris Jewellery store at the Oshawa Centre. In this robbery one of the suspects smashed a display case, stole the goods and fled.

And at 5 p.m., it was West Division who attended a robbery scene at the Michael Hill Jewellery store at the Pickering Town Centre.

One of the three suspects was arrested on September 7, and a second suspect is now facing charges. Police are still looking to identify the third suspect and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Trevor Hum, 19, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with robbery and two counts of robbery with offensive weapon. He was released on an Undertaking.

Anyone with any new information about these robberies, including dash cam footage in the areas at the times of the incidents, is asked to contact the Major Crime Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355.
