A security guard for a pizza joint in north Oshawa was stabbed while on duty leading to charges for one.
The guard was working at a pizza place near Simcoe Street North and Beatrice Street East on Aug. 19, Durham Police said. The area is home to several commercial plazas which include a Papa Johns, Go-Go Pizza and Subs and a Pizzaville. Police did not specify which the guard worked in.
Shortly after 10 p.m, a man entered the shop who was not welcome there. The guard told him to leave and tried to remove the intruder. However, the turned violent, police say, and stabbed the guard after an argument.
Police arrived soon afterwards and arrested the man without further issue. The guard was seriously hurt, though his wounds were not life-threatening. He required medical care at a Toronto trauma centre.
Neil Francis Squires, 50 of no fixed address, is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
