Community support for the Bowmanville Hospital’s massive redevelopment is in full swing this month, with more than half a dozen fundraising events planned over the next few weeks.
“The commitment shown by local businesses and community leaders is truly inspiring,” said Pankaj Panchal, Chair of the We Care, We Can Awareness Initiative of the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. “These efforts are making a tangible difference in advancing our hospital redevelopment and expanding the healthcare services that will benefit generations to come.”
The Clarington Eagles junior hockey club home opener at the Garnet Rickard Complex will kick off the fundraising lineup on September 12. The We Care, We Can Initiative Celebration will take place on September 18 at the Rolling Acres banquet hall. And the next day will be the On Point Wealth Management charity golf tournament at Newcastle Golf & Country Club.
September 21 will be an eventful day, beginning with the We Care, We Can Charity Ride at Blackstock Motorsports at 8 a.m., followed by the Unity in Diversity Navratri GARBA Fest at Garnet Rickard at 6 p.m. and ending with Dinner in the Orchard at Kent Farms with The Yardbird at 7 p.m.
As well, Harvey’s Bowmanville Hospital Days will happen September 20-23.
“We are deeply inspired by the overwhelming support from our community for the redevelopment and expansion of Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital,” said Bowmanville Hospital Foundation Interim CEO Maria Petri. “The commitment of local businesses and organizations hosting these incredible events is a testament to the collective belief in the future of healthcare in Clarington. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier community, and I am confident that these efforts will help us achieve our vision for a hospital that meets the growing needs of our region.”
Third-party fundraisers are needed for the Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment project, which will feature 178 bed capacity, a state-of-the-art Regional Eye Centre, private accommodations, a new emergency department, a new Ambulatory Care Centre a new rooftop helipad and a nine-station Hemodialysis Centre. These enhancements are designed to address the growing healthcare needs in the community.
The project is estimated to cost $736 million, with the community’s share $110 million.
“These events truly represent the spirit of our community,” said Stephanie Lamanna, the foundation’s Development Coordinator. “Everyone has a role to play in ensuring the Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment becomes a reality.”
