Seven teens arrested for alleged thefts of cologne from Shoppers Drug Mart in Whitby

Seven teens have been charged after allegedly trying to steal cologne from a Whitby Shoppers Drug Mart.

The teen boys walked into the store at 910 Dundas St shortly before 4 p.m. June 26. They allegedly attempted to steal the cologne while shop workers called the police. Officers soon responded to the store and arrested all seven kids.

Five of the teens were charged with theft under $5,000 and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime. Four of these boys at from Ajax and are between the ages of 14 and 17. The fifth is a 16-year-old from Clarington. Two others have been charged with those offences, but also face additional charges.

One, a 16-year-old from Ajax, is also charged with breaching probation and a release order. The second, a 15-year-old from Ajax, was also charged with a probation breach as well as possession of a prohibited weapon. Police did not specify what weapon he was allegedly carrying.

Six of the boys were released with conditions, but the one with the weapons charge was will remain in custody until a bail hearing. The teen’s identities are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act and cannot be released.
