An Oshawa man has been arrested after his alleged involvement in the theft of several vehicles.

Durham Regional Police got a report on Jan. 3 which claimed a man they were looking for was living near Kaiser Cr. and Colbourne St. The area is in Oshawa’s downtown across the street from the Botanical Gardens.

The man was wanted on allegations he’d been involved in several car thefts and police believed he was driving a stolen car. Officers watched the house and claimed they saw the suspect arrive in an SUV.

They attempted a traffic stop. However, the suspect drove into a nearby parking lot and ran from the car on foot, police claim. Officers later found the man in a nearby restaurant. They later found a prohibited stun gun at the suspect’s home, investigators claim.

Ryan Brocklehurst, 34 of Oshawa, is charged with dangerous driving, fleeing police, possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon, and breaching a release order. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Anyone with information can call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3843.
