Sewer break closes lanes on major Oshawa road

A flooded street is causing traffic woes for commuters on Friday night (Oct. 4) in Oshawa.

A sewer break is pouring water onto Simcoe Street South from Lloyd Street to John Street.

The sewer break occurred around 7:30 p.m. All northbound lanes will remain closed.

City officials are currently on the scene repairing the sewer break.

Durham Regional Police is advising residents to seek alternative routes in the meantime.

Durham police will take to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to notify when the road will be re-opened.
