Gunfire rang out inside a Pickering billiards hall late last night.
The shots erupted around 2 a.m. on Aug. 8 at the Diamond Billiards and Lounge in the Brock North Plaza. Durham Regional Police soon responded to the scene and found a bullet casing on the floor. No one was injured.
The hall was at the end of a ticketed Caribana event, “The Last Fete of the Weekend,” featuring live music from numerous DJs according to their Facebook page.
The man who allegedly fired the round quickly fled and officers could not locate him on arrival. Police identified a suspect through surveillance footage. They describe the man as a light-skinned Black man with shoulder-length braids and a medium-to-large build. He was wearing a white shirt with an orange and red design on the back, blue jeans and yellow and white running shoes.
Investigators are working to identify the man and encourage anyone who may know him to come forward. They are also hoping to speak with any witnesses in the bar at the time, especially those with cell phone footage.
