Sixty-seven new COVID-19 cases in Durham – Whitby leads with 25

On the day Ontario relaxed COVID-19 restrictions the virus did its part by keeping a low profile in Durham Region, with just 67 new cases and hospitalization numbers reduced to 28.

There are four people in ICU in Durham (down from six) and 434 total active cases, down marginally from 436 yesterday. There are five institutional outbreaks remaining in the region, though one outbreak from Abbeylawn Retirement Complex in Pickering has been lingering since February 9 and is still affecting nine people.

Whitby seems to be the new hot spot for new cases with 25 reported Monday, more than double the next highest city: Pickering with 11. Oshawa reported just nine and Brock Township had a zero new case day.
