Sleep clinic sexual assault reported in Oshawa, clinician faces charges

A patient reported a sexual assault at an Oshawa sleep clinic and one employee now faces charges.

The patient reported the assault after visiting the Oshawa Centre for Sleep Medicine at 13 Charles St. on Saturday, Jan. 13, Durham Regional Police said in a press release today (March 5).

During the victim’s appointment, a clinician allegedly made numerous inappropriate comments and acted in an unprofessional manner, police said.

Police are concerned there may be other victims and released a photo of a man facing charges in the incident.

Sardar Hoque, 51, from Scarborough is charged with sexual assault, police said.

He was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

The claims have not been proven in court.
