Stabbing in downtown Oshawa sends one man to hospital

One man is in hospital and another is in custody after a stabbing in downtown Oshawa Thursday night.

Durham Police were called to Simcoe Street and Bagot Street at 11:20 p.m. on Thursday for reports of an armed person. Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim suffering from a stab wound.

The man was transferred to a Toronto trauma centre in a non-life-threatening condition.  Officers on the scene were able to quickly identify a suspect nearby and took him into custody.

Ryley Whalen, 22, of No Fixed Address, is charged with aggravated assault and two other weapons assault offences. He was held for Bail Hearing.
