Staff hopeful Chestnut Hill pool in Pickering can re-open Friday morning after ‘fouling’

Issues with chemicals and a power outage have delayed the re-opening of the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex’s pool but aquatics staff are hopeful the pool can be open by 6 a.m. Friday.
The pool was shut down Tuesday after a ‘fouling’ and staff have been working to get it back to safe levels since then.
After removal of the offending substance, the chlorine levels are raised in the pool and then brought back down and ‘shocked’ until the proper level is reached.
The official statement from the City is the pool is closed “until further notice.”
