Staples Oshawa location hosted a gift card presentation to DDSB Monday

Staples stores across Durham Region have been in a giving mood this week with the donation of $500 gift cards to 25 schools in the Durham District School Board.

The donation is part of Staples Canada’s 17th annual Staples School Supply Drive, which has raised more than $15 million through customer donations to give students a leg up and remove barriers to learning.

“We believe that back to school season should be a time of excitement and wonder. However, we know that this is not the case for all parents, teachers, and students as they struggle to purchase all the supplies they need for the new school year,” said Wanda Walkden, Staples Canada’s Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer. “The School Supply Drive allows our stores to team up with charitable partners, making a sizable, tangible impact in the hundreds of communities where we live and work, empowering learning and growth for the year ahead.”

In Ontario Staples partnered with the Kiwanis Foundation and the Durham AM Kiwanis Club was on hand with school board and Staples officials for presentations in Oshawa Monday and Whitby Wednesday, with a gift presentation scheduled for the Ajax Staples location on Harwood Ave. S. tonight. A presentation in Pickering is also upcoming.

The donated gift cards will be used by schools for items needed within the school and to support students to help them achieve academic success.
