The same unidentified man robbed two businesses in Ajax and Whitby last night, armed with a stick in the first incident, and police are still looking for him.

First, around 8:30 p.m. the man walked into Ajax’s Kingston Road East Money Mart. He brandished a stick and demanded cash from the employee.

The worker then ran to an office and locked themselves inside. Meanwhile, the suspect tried to break into a room holding the Money Mart’s safe. He fled the scene when he failed.

About a half hour later, the man entered the Cash and Cell Mart on Dundas Street East in Whitby. Stickless this time, the man made the same demand for cash.

The man fought with the Cash and Cell Mart employee before taking off with the entire cash register. The employee was unharmed in the altercation.

The robber was last seen running through the White Oaks area. DRPS brought in the K-9 unit to search for the man, but came they came up empty.

Police describe the man as Black, 18-25 years old, standing 6’ tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, pulled tight around his face with a white drawstring, black pants and running shoes.
